Our approach to safety
SignBFF is a place where people from all over the world make real, positive and valuable friendships. Most of the time they have a positive experience, but we understand that sometimes things go wrong - just like in the real world. In order to reduce the risk, we proactively look out for our users and also provide them tools to help deal with potential wrong-doings.
We work hard to improve safety through:
- The sign-up process
- Profile settings
- Community guidelines
- Technical tools & human moderation
- Blocking & reporting
Sign-up process
- Users must be at least age 13 to join SignBFF. To sign-up, they must provide their real date of birth. If we identify an underage profile we terminate the related account. If a profile is reported as underaged by the community, we check the report within 24 hours and terminate the related account.
- 13 to 17 years old are not allowed to create an account on SignBFF without the permission of their legal representative. If a legal representative wants to know more about SignBFF, they can read our Privacy Policy, our Community Guidelines or contact us at support@signbff.com.
- Every user must accept our Community Guidelines to create an account. We make it clear that we want to keep SignBFF a place free of wrong-doings.
Profile Settings
- Before being allowed to use SignBFF, users need to give their date of birth. We use this information to show them profiles on the same age group. Once an age is set, it cannot be changed. If we identify (by human moderation, community reports or technological scanning) an underaged account, we terminate it.
- The Snapchat username is private, users can choose to share it or not with users who request it.
- No location information is requested. Users can only select their country from a list. It's not possible to choose to see profiles near a location or nearby.
- Adults can't see teenagers' profiles and vice-versa - users on the 13 to 17 age bracket can only see profiles on that same age bracket, the same applies for 18 years old or older. This filter is enabled by default and cannot be changed or turned off.
Technical tools & human moderation
We use technical tools to detect inappropriate or dangerous content uploaded to any profile on SignBFF. But we know that sometimes technology makes mistakes, that's why we have a 24/7 content moderation team responsible for reviewing user reports and violations of our Community Guidelines.
- Image and text analysis to prevent users from posting or uploading inappropriate content as defined by our Community Guidelines.
- Users can easily report content. Reported content is reviewed by our human moderators within 24 hours. They can remove this content and/or terminate the related account.
- We have a 24/7 content moderation team that reviews profile images, bios, and user reports.
Blocking and Reporting
We provide our users with reporting and blocking features throughout the app:
- Report a user: Tap the three dots button (“...”) on any user’s profile or in the chat header menu and choose “Report User”. Select a reason (harassment, inappropriate content, spam, underage user, impersonation, scam, or other) and optionally add a description. Our moderation team reviews every report within 24 hours.
- Block a user: Tap the three dots button (“...”) on a user’s profile or in the chat header and choose “Block User”. Once blocked, they can no longer find you, contact you, or see your profile. You can manage blocked users from Settings > Blocked Users.
- Unblock: Go to Settings > Blocked Users to see your blocked list and unblock anyone. Unblocking does not restore previous conversations or friendships.
- If you need help or want to report an urgent safety concern, contact us anytime at support@signbff.com.
